We get calls about traffic courts in all areas of New York State.
Most clients were ticketed on major highways, especially the
interstates and the parkways.
Perhaps the center of all traffic court activity in New York State
is the Traffic Violations Bureau system.
It covers New York City, part of
Suffolk County, and the cities of Buffalo and Rochester.
We handle many
TVB cases.
A lot of traffic court activity
occurs in Westchester County,
typically on I-95, I-87, I-287, I-684,
the Sprain Brook and the Hutchinson River Parkway. The busiest courts
are Yonkers City Court,
White Plains City Court, Greenburgh Town Court,
New Rochelle City Court and Harrison Town Court.
Another busy place for tickets is the long stretch of I-90
running from the Massachusetts border
to Buffalo and
beyond.
On the western side, Amherst Town Court and Cheektowaga Town Court
in
Erie County appear
quite hectic. We also get quite a few calls from Chautauqua County
about
Poland Town Court, Dunkirk (city and town), Harmony, Pomfret and
Portland.
Between Buffalo and Albany, some of the most active traffic courts
include
Syracuse City Court, Greece,
Henrietta, Manchester, Salina, LeRoy,
Hamburg, Oswego, Gates and Brighton. There are plenty of others.
The greater Albany area generates speeding tickets on major highways
including I-87, I-90, I-787, I-88,
and other busy roads such as Route
7,
Route 9, and Route 20. In Albany
County the busy courts include
Albany
City Court, Colonie Town Court, Bethlehem, Guilderland,
Coeymans/Ravena,
and the crowded Menands Village Court (stuffed with I-787 speeders).
Rensselaer County is filled
with Troopers, writing I-90
speeding tickets for Schodack, East Greenbush
and North Greenbush, plus some Route 7 cases in Troy City Court.
Further down I-90 is Columbia County,
with the infamous Chatham Town Court (a bad place to speed) and
Canaan. Heading
south on the Taconic,
it's a bit of a roller coaster ride with deer popping out of the woods
and deputies hiding in the nooks and
crannies.
Passing Chatham takes you through Austerlitz, Ghent, Claverack,
Gallatin and Taghkanic.
The road
continues into Dutchess County,
with Stanford, Milan, Clinton,
and East Fishkill. Milan was so crazy it was written up in the New York
Times.
Just west of Albany, Schenectady
County gets the most cases from
I-90 in Rotterdam and Princetown,
with another bunch from I-88 in
Duanesburg. Glenville gets a few cases from Route 5 and Route 50.
Further
west is Montgomery County,
with Florida, Glen, Root, and Minden.
Heading down the I-88 corridor toward Binghamton, Schoharie County gets
cases in
Schoharie Town Court,
Cobleskill and Richmondville. Further down I-88,
Sidney Town Court catches more than a few flies.
Other courts we see in Delaware
County include Hancock, Colchester and Deposit (on Route 17).
Broome County is a hotbed of
speed traps, with I-88, I-81 and Route
17/I-86 all coming together in Binghamton.
We have handled many cases there, including Barker Town Court,
Chenango, Dickinson, Kirkwood, Lisle,
Sanford, Triangle, Union and
Windsor.
Going north from Albany on I-87, Saratoga
County is swarming with
Troopers,
starting at the U-turns just north of the Twin Bridges. Halfmoon,
Clifton Park, Malta,
Saratoga Springs City Court, Wilton and
Moreau are the most inviting to speeders.
The carnage continues in Warren County
with Queensbury, Bolton, Chester
(aka Chestertown)
and Glens Falls City Court. Further north is Essex County,
with Schroon, Lewis,
North Hudson and
Chesterfield. Finally, Clinton
County is
home to Ausable, Champlain, Chazy, Peru, and
Plattsburgh.
