Speeding tickets are handled in the North Carolina district courts. More serious cases are heard in County Court.

North Carolina may be the worst state for drivers. You can get
suspended or revoked for:
Going 15 mph over the limit
Two speeding convictions in a year
One speeding and one reckless driving within a year
Willful racing conviction
Speeding over 75 mph
The most surprising way this comes up is when an NC driver gets a ticket in another state. At least some of the above suspensions apply. For example, we were hired by a client who was facing a suspension for a ticket for going over 75 mph. This could happen to someone getting a 76 mph ticket on the Florida Turnpike, where the limit is 70 mph.
Check with an attorney in North Carolina, or with
your
insurance company, to get more information.
For out-of-state drivers accused of speeding in NC it depends on your home state. Most likely the violation will be reported to your home state. Some states count out-of-state violations against you. Others do not.
