Speeding tickets are handled in the Pennsylvania traffic courts.
We do NOT
handle Pennsylvania speeding tickets.
Speeding tickets in Pennsylvania typically involve fines
imposed by the Court. There are also points on your DMV record.
Your insurance rates may also go up.
Traffic matters are handled by Pennsylvania Traffic Courts. We have represented many PA drivers on their NY speeding tickets.
For Pennsylvania drivers, speeding tickets and other
offenses, accumulate points on your DMV record. It starts with 2 points
for speeds between six and ten mph over the limit. Higher speeds mean
more points. Over 25 mph over the limit means 5 points.
Certain things, like getting 6 points or more, or work zone speeds, can
lead to other consequences like having to take an exam or getting
suspended. Tickets from NY or other states may affect you. Check with a
traffic lawyer in Pennsylvania, or with an insurance agent, to get more
information.
For out-of-state
drivers with tickets in PA, there is no simple answer.
Pennsylvania reports most violations to the
"Drivers License Compact", and this can affect insurance rates in some
states. Many states recognize out-of-state tickets, and
they do affect insurance. New Jersey, for example, recognizes all
out-of-state moving violations as 2 points. Drivers with a CDL are also
likely to be affected.
